She was sisters with Lila. Friends with Dante and Ruth. She was also the one whom had brought Lila along for the gentrification project.

Melody death
At the end of the film, when both she and Lila think they have defeated Leatherface, they go to the car and put on auto pilot, finally preparing to leave. Suddenly, Leatherface breaks through the window while Melody and Lila scream, Leatherface snatches Melody and slices her head off with a chainsaw and shows it to Lila, as she watches from the self-driving car which takes her further and further away.
