Hal Hartman is a corrupt Texas Ranger that operated before the events of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) and the tertiary antagonist of Leatherface. Hartman was driven to insanity when his daughter Betty was murdered, causing his vendetta against the Sawyer Family. Later, he is chainsawed and murdered by Jedidiah Sawyer up the torso and abdomen eventually reaching his heart as punishment, killing him.

- According to Leatherface writer Seth M. Sherwood, the idea of the deranged Texas Ranger Hal Hartman was inspired by "Lefty" Enright's role in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.[1]
