Boss Sawyer is the leader of the Sawyer family in Texas Chainsaw 3D. He is portrayed by the late Gunnar Hansen, who played the original iteration of Leatherface in the first movie. In addition, this was Hansen's final role in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise as he would pass away in 2015, which was two years since the release of Texas Chainsaw 3D.
History[]
Boss Sawyer is a member of, and the apparent leader, of the Sawyer family in 1973. Boss, armed with a shotgun, and the rest of his equally heat-packing clan were inside the Sawyer homestead when Sheriff Hooper arrives to arrest Leatherface for murder. Boss attempts to avoid conflict with the police and tries to convince Drayton that they should just hand Leatherface over to the authorities.
When Drayton argues that he is family, Boss retorts that the boy is "simple" and not right "for a Sawyer.". This forced Drayton to give in and Boss yells out to Hooper that they are bringing Leatherface out and asks that "Jed gets a good lawyer."
Before they can bring out Jedidiah, however, residents of Newt, led by Burt Hartman, arrive, as they seek to take the law into their own hands. During an ensuing shootout, they opened fire on the Sawyers as revenge for their crimes, killing Boss and his other relatives. His body is then burned when the mob set the Sawyer house ablaze.
Trivia[]
- His death and the other 7 Sawyers is the dull machete in dead meat’s kill count.
